Dr. William Parris earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Christian Brothers College and Doctor of Dental Surgery and Master of Science in orthodontics degrees from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. Dr. Parris has practiced orthodontics in Memphis since 1985. He has successfully treated over 8,000 patients and participated in the training of over 165 orthodontists at UTHSC.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Memphis Dental Society, the American Cleft Lip Palate Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists (past president), the Memphis Association of Orthodontists, and Mid-South Interdisciplinary Dento-Facial Study Club. He is also a member of the American College of Dentistry, as well as the LeBonheur Children's Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Team. Dr. Parris is Associate Professor ( Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry) at The University of Tennessee Health Sciences (UTHSC) and Director of The University of Tennessee Orthodontic Craniofacial Anomaly Program. Dr. Parris is a Board Certified Orthodontist in Tennessee and Arkansas.
Dr. Parris is married to Carla (McCann) and they have two daughters, Sara Elizabeth and Cathleen Gagnon (Chandler). He is very active in community affairs, including church and local urban ministries and international medical/dental missions in Africa, Central America, and China. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, fly fishing, running long distance, and drawing. Dr. Parris and his brother created the cartoon strip "The Eggheads" and copyrighted it in 1968. Dr. Parris also drew the cartoons for this website and loves to draw for his patients.
